Halloween 2008
The kids had a great time with Halloween. This year Bryant and Kaylee were too big to do Halloween so they went to a party. Sarah was a witch, Zack was a good ninja, and for Caleb's first Halloween he was a pirate. Zack wore the costume when he was 2 years old. Caleb is so big. Ronnie Paul stayed home while I took the kids around. Caleb fell asleep in the stroller after a couple of houses. Zack really gets into it and runs from lighted house to house. Sarah was such a good sport and went along wit him. I suspect it will be one more year before she decides she is too big to trick or treat. The get so big so fast!!

ZACK TURNED 5

Zack had a great time at his birthday party. We had a carnival themed party. His friends from church came along with his best friend Ethan Corrington. He was so excited that his cousin and bestest friend Ryker came to his party. The kids played games and ran around the back yard. Kaylee did face painting and Bryant sat in the fishing game most of the day. We had a duck pond and a ski ball machine plus other fun carnival games. It is easy to to make a five year old happy.

After Ike

We are all doing well. I don't have pictures or video to post. I think we are just too tired and worn out to care. The house did not sustain damage. We lost numerous tree limbs and one tree in the backyard. Electricity was restored on Monday morning. We are quite fortunate for that blessing. Seems that the electric crews start West and work to the East. We don't have land line, cable, or Internet so I am posting from work.
Our generator held up well. We fought it some to keep it going. Seems the oil light doesn't work right. Once I figured out that it needed full oil all the time, I added oil with each gas fill up and it worked like a champ. We never lost water or gas. Our fridge and freezer stayed powered up so the cold food was safe. We have spent much time and energy on emergency preparedness. It is impossible to fully appreciate the preparation until you are forced to live it. We prepared over the years with blind faith as we have been instructed by our church leaders. The time came and we were kept in safety and as comfortable as one could be in the situation. Gas is still hard to find for areas. Over a million are still without power. This will be heavy on the community for some time to come. We will being to replenish the items used immediately so we will always be prepared.
Kids are still out of school. We keep teasing them that they will have to go to school over the Christmas break or miss spring break to make up the time.

Ike

We are doing our best to prepare for hurricane Ike. We have followed the recommendations of the city, county, and state and decided to not evacuate as we are not close enough to the water to suffer from the storm surge. We do expect high wind and possible damage from that. We will try to update information periodically provided that we have Internet to reach the web. We have created a couple of videos to show what we have done to the house to prepare it. Sorry, but no audio came through. I'll see if I can figure out what happened with the next post.

Our first time at the beach

We had never taken the kids to the beach.(Well its the Gulf) We decied to go camping at the beach. It was so much fun. The kids had a wonderful time. The weather was great. It was a little too cold to go swimming so we took the kids bikes so they could ride along the shore. It was so much fun to gather shells and digs for crabs. It was Calebs first camping trip.We waited a whole 3 months to take him on a camping trip.

Caleb joined our family

Caleb has been such a blessing to our family. He has grown so fast this past year. Everyone was so excited for him to come. We were surprised when he came a month early. The day after Christmas was not what we expected. Luckily we are old pros. Ronnie took care of everything. The kids were good sports about their Christmas vacation. When I went for my regular appointment I told them I would be back in two hours, then I would take them to go shopping. Well I didn't come home for 4 days.Thank goodness for such great kids and an awesome husband.
